When you were learning to walk, riding a bicycle, skating, etc., you fell down many times while you were practising and polishing your skills to master that ability.
Sometimes when the fall was very hard, the pain kept you on the floor for a while, but as soon as the pain want away you gathered the strength to get up and keep practicing once more.
Your desire to walk, ride or skate was bigger than your fear of falling down again. You were actually aware that you would fall, that it could hurt, but the pleasure of mastering that skill was higher than your fear of pain.
Neither pain nor fears are negative emotions per se. They have a reason and a purpose. If you didn’t feel pain you could put your hand on fire until it would turn into ashes, but the pain makes you react and get your hand away of the fire as fast as possible.
