I was sure I knew that subject by heart.

I thought I had no need to review my books once more, but when my brain kept struggling to find the answers to that question, I realised that I needed to study the lesson once more.

As a child I always hated exams, specially surprise tests.

But after finishing school, I dreaded Life’s tests.

When an unexpected situation forced me to dust off my knowledge without previous planning, I got scared and many times that lead me to failure. Continue reading

Compare yourself

They say that one of the main causes of unhappiness nowadays is when people begin to judge the life of those around them and compare it with their own.

They begin to compare their life, possessions, “successes and failures”, health and so on and so forth, and immediately gloom installs in their inner system.

A friend of mine who used to be a very well-known actor told me once that he was surprised with the opinion of other people about what his life was.  They thought he lived a very glamorous and enviable life. Continue reading

Find your hope (Auto-reminder)

Do you remember that time when you thought everything was lost and there was not possible solution for that problem?

When you were a child, there were times when things appear impossible to accomplish, things like holding your spoon properly, reaching for a toy in a tall drawer, solving an addition on the blackboard while all classmates were watching you, and so forth.

Probably there were times when you felt hesitant to tell your parents you had broken their favourite vase by accident while playing with your ball inside your home. You just could not think of a way out of that situation, right?

As you advanced in your life, the tests became more challenging and the situations seemed harder.  But, when you looked back, you could see that you were always able to find a solution for every tribulation you found in your way, right? Continue reading

“I must be getting old”, I thought.

When I was younger I remember to feel bad about those grumpy old men who spend their whole time complaining about everything and everyone.

My grandmother used to say: “When I was your age, people were polite, we never disrespect others”. “Your generation knows not what manners are” and so on and so forth.

And now, I have become that old grumpy man who cannot believe his eyes and ears anymore.  Continue reading

Your multi-coloured umbrella

I was overwhelmed with all the instructions I had to follow in order to perform a good ceremony. After all I was a guest of the King of Tibetans, His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso, XIV Dalai Lama. And I couldn´t just miss a detail since I wanted to show all the Geshes (masters) that I was not such a lousy student after all.

But being a typical westerner, from the city and with no Buddhist background the fact of doing a ritual that took me almost 6 hours to complete was beyond my strength.

“Well, after all they know I am not a monk and I am just here as a guest” I kept repeating to myself trying not to feel so bad about my bad memory. Continue reading

Your adventure

Two decades ago I began a great adventure. A world tour visiting 100 cities in 40 countries. We have planned to complete this tour in a year exactly, but it ended up taking more than a year an a half, yes we forget about the unexpected surprises (good and strange) you always find in every trip. A typical question I am asked all the time is if you could avoid bad things to happen to you and your loved ones through visualisation.

We can alter our results, our own perception of reality, our bad habits and ideas and create all the good things we need in our life.  But we are not living alone in this plane.  We are not the only creators of this universe.  Continue reading

I was listening to a friend who kept repeating that he would be happy if he could buy a new mobile phone, then his wife said that she would be happy when she could sell her car and buy a new one, then another person said all those things were silly, that he would be happy as soon as he regained his health again and other people made similar comments.

When they asked me when will I be happy? I just told them: I am very happy right now.  That does not mean that I have everything I wish right now, it doesn’t mean that I have no goals or dreams to fulfil either. It just means I just decided to be happy now and to follow my dreams and achieve my goals while I am happy all along. Continue reading
