I cannot control this

Yes, I admit it. I cannot control the headlines in all the newspapers I read, but I can control what articles I read from beginning to end.

I cannot control how politicians are handling the problems we are having in our planet right now, but I can do my best efforts to do my part to make this universe a better place to live. I am convinced that if everyone would only do their part, instead of being criticising and pretending to tell others what they should do or think, this whole universe would be a different place.

I cannot control what people believe to be the best solutions to every problem we are facing as human beings, but I can decide to do everything in my power to work on solutions I can do something to make them real. We might differ on what the best solutions should be for some problems, but the only way we will find out is to do something and try them. Continue reading

Be Resilient

 

While talking to a friend yesterday we were commenting about a friend who used to be a very solid and strong man most of his life, but the day his wife passed away, he began to lose his strength and wish to go on living.

It is always hard to lose a loved one, specially a very close person. And once we fall, getting on our feet once more is a daunting task for most of us.

After a lost, a failure, an accident, etc., things get very difficult and recovering our inner strength and peace seems almost impossible. And although time heals almost all wounds, there is always some things we can do to speed up our recovery. Continue reading

Control

Everybody is telling you that you need to control what you think because it is what you attract.  That brings upon us a big burden since we stress ourselves by making a big effort to avoid bad thoughts and feelings.

As human beings, we can experience all kinds of feelings, thoughts, and emotions.

We cannot limit our mind and soul to filter all the time our bad thoughts and feelings. That would not be beneficial, and in the end, it would bring us major health problems.

We do not need to completely avoid newspapers, TV news and the general gossiping around us.

The big difference comes when we do not allow those events to change our self-confidence. Continue reading

Do not allow them

You wake up feeling wonderful, you had a good night and you feel happy and expectant about your day.

You are not feeling tired like other days and you know deep inside of you that this could be a wonderful day.

You wear your best coat and leave your home to conquer the world, you even see your street and the people walking around you under a different light. You are even smiling, but suddenly, a bus passing right in front of you splashes the water of a dirty puddle all over you, now your precious coat looks like rubbish and you just want to vanish into the centre of the earth.

You go back to your home and quickly fetch the fist garments you find in your closet.  Obviously, you get to your job late and, a furious boss asks you to present him the reports he has been asking you for since last week, just to find a ton of mistakes in them, so you are obliged to do them again. The best I can do

I still have problems defining when I have to stop trying to do things. On one side my mind tells me to “make things happen” and the other side says “do not force things and go with the flow”.  And that is like trying to drive with one foot on the accelerator and the other on the brake at the same time.

I know, sometimes life asks you to go beyond your normal efforts in order to achieve more meaningful things and sometimes you need to allow things to freely flow because with your pressure you are only slowing things down.

Anxiety

He usually looked so calmed and relaxed, I wondered sometimes if he ever got angry or nervous about something.

One day I heard he was going through a severe legal problem involving a money issue with his relatives. When I went to visit him he looked as usual, calmed and relaxed, despite the problems he was facing going to courts and having to deal with attorneys all the time.

At first I didn’t dare to ask him how he was feeling, since his attitude was clear enough as to see he was doing quite well. Continue reading

Bad

We always complain about the bad things that happen to us in our everyday life.

Sometimes we feel the worst things take place at the worst moment so our mind begins to orbit around our problems, leaving the rest of our life out of perspective. Then the rest of the world disappears and our attention is focused on those “terrible situations”.

We all have been there and when we finally take a look around us, we finally see there are much bigger problems in the life of others that the ones we are considering as our doom. Continue reading

Shake it off

There is nothing more difficult than trying to talk with someone who is angry. You ask them to listen to what you have to say, but their anger do not let them listen, really listen, they actually are not really interested in what you have to say, all they want to do is to take that awful feeling out of their system.

Even if they let you speak for a few seconds, they will immediately start talking back to you, they won’t listen to your reasons because they won’t keep that anger inside and need to get it out of them. Even if you are right they cannot see it. Continue reading

When do changes begin?

One of the most common questions I hear all the time and, actually have asked myself many times as well is: When do changes begin to appear?

You listen constantly that you need to control your thoughts in order to change the way you look at things, to stop listening and reading tragic news (that is: everything you see on news channels and newspapers),  and to avoid negative people and conversations, to keep your faith alive and keeping your mind positive.

Just breath

Action is what creates our reality in this universe.  We need start “doing” in order to create, exist and advance. Passiveness is one of the most dangerous things in the path to our enlightenment.  Nevertheless, remember that we live in a balanced reality and we cannot keep always on the same side of the balance, we need to keep moving from one side to the other without falling into either extreme.
