Genuineness

Sometime ago, I had the opportunity to meet in person a very well know scientist-writer.  He always wrote about very polemic subjects but he was convinced of his concepts and was considered an eminence in his time.

For many years he was able to endure the attacks and criticism of his fellow scientists who were more comfortable with the old theories.  He could most times provide good evidence of his own models.

But he started a family and the economic pressures began to emerge. So, he had to start searching for new work opportunities and his life took a 180° turn.

When he was not so “famous” anymore, and he had to abide under the rules of the scientific community (see how I didn´t say under the laws of science) He was politely asked to “rephrase” some of his arguments and personal views in his books, since they “were not in line with the general scientific view”. Is that you?

She was a sweet and lovely girl.  She grew up in a traditional family and her childhood was a happy one.

As she grew up people and events turn her down and she became resentful and “tougher”. She began talking like her male friends and changed her stylish wardrobe for a more masculine looking. Even her movements and vocabulary became more aggressive and rough.

Finally one day I dared to ask her why she decided to make those changes in her personality, since she was such a nice young lady and now she was rougher than some gang members I know.

She told me she had to play a different role. She was alone with her two children in a world made for men by men and where women had no safe place to be. So she decided she wouldn´t let anybody walk upon her, she would be the one stepping on other people´s heads. Continue reading

 What is your scorpion?

I was overhearing a group of ladies in a park, complaining about the existence of bad ugly things and people.

One of them was saying that God shouldn’t allow bad things, people or events to exist. The rest of the group around her nodded in agreement.

I continued my walk thinking that when I was a little child I had that same stance towards scorpions. I was really afraid of them. And I was so terrified of them that I attracted them by the dozens.  When we went to visit my cousins in a region where scorpions are very common, they always were amazed to see that as soon as I got to their place, little scorpions began to appear, in the walls, in the corners, under the beds (specially under the bed I used), on the ceiling, etc. Of course my fear was so STRONG that I attracted them. obviously. (This is a clear example of the Law of Attraction at work). That awful feeling of fear attracted them as soon as I was present. Continue reading

Cleansing

One of the best things of making up your mind to clean that spot in your home you have been neglecting for a long time is, that you might find many things that were lost and you never imagined you would find again and specially, in that place!

Once you decide to start taking things out that abandoned box, closet, cupboard, etc. You are surprised by all the things that were hidden there, the more you “explore” inside the more you will find and then, you begin to wish you had done this cleaning before.

After all the “useful” things you found, you cannot understand how you could procrastinate this cleansing for such a long time! Continue reading

Life lessons

Many people refer to their life experiences as “lessons from the University of Life”. Meaning that life itself is an abundant source of knowledge, experiences and very valuable lessons. Probably the best lessons in life are absolutely free. Or maybe not so “free” because the price we have to pay to receive them and learn from them is having to experience them in our life and that sometimes, is a very high price to pay.

Today I am feeling especially grateful for all my life lessons, I am fortunate to say I have experienced some very difficult ones from the best teachers in the universe: my “problems” and “hard times” have been excellent teachers and I am so grateful for them. Besides I have and still am learning from other people who have been kind enough to share their experiences with me and others who I have been able to observe from the distance as well. I respect your ways

I know you have heard many times that we are all different. No matter how long we have lived in the same community, in the same house and even in the same family. We have a lot in common and yet, we are still different.

You might like to add sugar in your tea, I prefer a little more cream in it instead. You might prefer a bagel with it, I prefer a ring doughnut. You might like to talk about politics, I rather skip that subject.

We can be so different in so many aspects and yet, we can share a nice tea moment, each enjoying, at the same time, our own personal pleasures. Continue reading

Stop looking for reasons to be unhappy

Lately while I am walking on the street I like listening to a couple of sentences from other people’s conversations, not for gossiping reasons, but because if you put together every sentence| you catch “by passing” you create very funny “dialogues”, I guess I could write a novel with all the sentences I have gathered lately!

But once the fun was over and I began to remember a little more of the conversations I overheard on my commuting, I was shocked to discover that most of the conversations refer to those things that people kept focusing on, and these were mostly things that make them unhappy. Continue reading

Travelling

Travelling means different things for every person. I remember I got very excited when I was a child as holydays approached. I knew we were going to travel somewhere.

Some holidays, we went to visit family and after a while that became a little boring because every occasion we were doing the same things with the same people and going to the same places.  Fortunately my mother decided we needed to see new places and began taking guided tours to different places everywhere. Our tribe

They say our friends are the family we choose. Sometimes they are the ones that support us and help us through hard times. They are the only people by our side when we need them and are the ones who can talk with us for hours.

We choose who will enter our tribe and that is our own right and privilege.

But how strict are you for admitting new people in your “chosen clan”? Continue reading

Me

ME

We are so used to hear that we mustn’t just think in ourselves for that is egoism.

Self-sacrifice is a well-known practice in many religions and actually many people practice it as a method of purifying themselves.

Although sometimes doing our loved ones happy helps us to make ourselves happy and that might mean having to make some extra effort, sacrifice some time or activity and even deprive us from something. We must not fall into extremes.

We have been thought since we were little that self-sacrifice was a virtue, that was something that pleased God and that self-sacrifice would bring us closer to Divinity. Continue reading
