Totally here…

They say you cannot be in two places at the same time.  That is a law of physics.

But nowadays most people are in several places at the same time, everywhere, but in the place they are supposed to be.

Have you ever talk to a person who seems to be listen to you very attentively, just to realise few minutes later that they were thinking something else and their attention was somewhere else? Aha! But you have done the same to others as well so you are not off the hook!

Sometimes I wonder where did the time go when a day ends and it takes me for surprise.

Actually, I do not think it is fair! Continue reading

This is Life

The morning Sun started to shine upon the river Thames as London was awakening to a new day.

The activity in Oxford St. was chaotic as usual, and a walk in Hyde Park was the best medicine for my exhausted soul.  That, and something good to eat. Body and soul are connected and good food is something that I enjoy very much.

I arrived at a very popular place in the area, the owner takes care of the kitchen since he is an excellent chef. I was happy to be there that day.

Watching him work was a real pleasure, he has the gift to make regular food look like a masterpiece. Continue reading

Before…

I have got a friend who is very impatient and every time you talk to him and you are trying to finish a sentence he keeps saying the first word that comes to his mind, maybe to help you to finish it faster. Sometimes is the word you were about to say but most times is the wrong word.

People usually look at him with anger and probably they think something like: “Thank you, but I do not need you to help me talk, now if you let me continue…” He realises you are not very happy with his interrupting and keeps silent for a few seconds and two or three sentences later he begins to interrupt again.

Needless to say, if you are not perfectly focused on what you are saying, all his interruptions make your mind drift away from the main subject and you end up talking about a totally different thing. Continue reading

Just here

I must admit that being focused on this present moment is not as easy as I thought.

My mind is wandering more than ever and trying to keep it in this local reality is costing me an extra effort today.

Too many things are trying to keep me from “being here” and that is so interesting to observe, because I am trying to ask myself why, something apparently so simple, is so complicated today.

Probably paying so much attention to my thoughts today is making the task more difficult or, struggling to keep my mind relaxed is what is causing the opposite effect. But nevertheless it is so fascinating to observe this process from the inside. Continue reading

Do it for you

The more you advance in life, the more you realise that your reality has more to do with yourself than with external elements.

We are taught to avoid selfish attitudes and to pay attention on the opinion of the rest of the world, before considering our own.

You try sometimes to be good to other people, specially your loved ones, but time teaches you that you cannot make them love you, as you love them, you cannot expect them to be as good and loyal to you, as you are to them. You cannot force them to see life as you do, because they have their own view of the world, they have their own needs and they experience a different life with different perspectives and ideas, even if they spend all the time near you. Bad

We always complain about the bad things that happen to us in our everyday life.

Sometimes we feel the worst things take place at the worst moment so our mind begins to orbit around our problems, leaving the rest of our life out of perspective. Then the rest of the world disappears and our attention is focused on those “terrible situations”.

We all have been there and when we finally take a look around us, we finally see there are much bigger problems in the life of others that the ones we are considering as our doom. Continue reading

You are already here (Rules for standing up once more)

(These are some excerpts taken from my conference in a community centre last week) Just some highlights I chose to share with you here.

  • We lose track of our past accomplishments and endeavours under the blinding light of the things yet to be done.
  • The overwhelming feeling of looking at all the things that need to be done in front of us is a powerful feeling that most times keeps us from advancing in our personal enhancement.
  • We are so concerned with our image and the concept others have about us that we forget what it is really important: our self-perception.
  • If I had known all the aspects I needed to learn before mastering a language like Russian, I’m sure that I would never have started to learn it in the first place.
  • The only way you can accomplish something big is taking a step at a time.
  • Stop trying to look at all the things you still have to do, accomplish, learn, etc. Just concentrate on what lies right in front of you here and now.
  • Don´t ask yourself how you are going to do it please. This only increases your level of stress and uncertainty and, that will not help you in anyway whatsoever.

Just Love them

Everything in this life has two sides, whether we see them or not. But we tend to see, or to focus on just one side.

For instance, temperature: we can visualise it like a scale if you want, the cold on the left side and the hot side on the right to follow the Cartesian style.  – 100° is VERY cold then you keep going to the right:-90°, -50°, -10°, until you get to 0°. Then if you keep travelling the scale towards the right extreme, then you will see the positive numbers 20°, 70°, 100° and so forth, and the further you go the hottest it will be.

We can apply that “scale model” to almost everything in our life.  Love inclusive. Continue reading

When do changes begin?

One of the most common questions I hear all the time and, actually have asked myself many times as well is: When do changes begin to appear?

You listen constantly that you need to control your thoughts in order to change the way you look at things, to stop listening and reading tragic news (that is: everything you see on news channels and newspapers),  and to avoid negative people and conversations, to keep your faith alive and keeping your mind positive.

But when will changes appear in your life? Continue reading

Pondering

I was reading about a study from Harvard University where they describe the importance of being focused on the present moment for improving our happiness.

We are always encouraged to let our mind wander in order to improve our creativity. There is nothing most wonderful than day dreaming and let our thoughts flow.  But according to this study, the more our mind wanders away from the present moment, the unhappier we become. Continue reading
