There are days when it takes more strength to get up from bed than others.

They say that when something scares you a little is a good sign for you to go on and do it, but in this world of bad news, excess of stress, lack of natural food and an overextended pessimism makes us very difficult to gather that strength.

That makes us search for something even more difficult to find nowadays: Those people who challenge you to be better, motivate you and impulse you to act.

Most people are just too overwhelmed with all the negative information we receive from everywhere. So, they do not have time to feel better themselves and let alone spreading motivational words around them. Continue reading

Reference points

It is very difficult to understand many concepts or even know where you are located right now without a reference point, which is a mark that allows you to compare or locate your position relative to external elements.

Our brain is a super computer that keeps comparing and evaluating everything around us all the time. Besides all the other things the brain has to do to keep us alive. So we actually are not aware of all the impressive processes our brain has to perform 24/7.

But as ironic as it sounds, Life gives us strange ways sometimes for us to compare and set new reference points in and learn our lessons, many times the hard way.

Sometimes you get tired of your own town, city, country, etc. So you decide to travel. Then you see new things, you meet new people with new customs, you try new food and so on. After a while, you begin to compare those new experiences with your home and then you begin to feel nostalgic and begin feeling the wish to go back. Continue reading

The external

We constantly talk about our old negative ideas, beliefs and hidden concepts in our mind that keep us sunk in our depression and lack of success.

But we cannot forget that we are inhabitants of a physical universe and that there are external factors as well.

Yes, we create our reality with our feelings and thoughts. Yes, we are responsible for the things that we create and attract to our personal reality and yes, there are other people in this local reality creating and attracting their own things as well, so we are not alone and yes, we are attracting and creating those external factors as well.

Let´s imagine you are an enthusiast of motorcycles. Then you get one or more motorcycles and then attract other people who are passionate about them as well.  Then your “inner circle” could be formed by people who share your hobbies and passions. Continue reading

Why do bad things have to exist? If God is so “good” as they say, then why he allows the bad and the ugly to exist?

These are common questions we all hear all the time.

And have you ever imagined a world without opposites?

It could not exist at all actually.

We need a point of comparison to be able to “measure” things. How would you know if something is cold if there was not hot? Silly example I know I am just trying to make my point here. Continue reading

Try it first! (mental note)

A bad habit I have been trying to get rid of, but I still keep hidden somewhere deep in my subconscious mind is judging something before even try it.

Many times I have seen new and strange food in my travels and immediately, even before checking its smell, labelled it as: Not good.

For instance, once it happened to me with a thick corn made tortilla-like dish from El Salvador, very popular in that country. They stuff it with cheese, beans or meat and add some tomato sauce, cabbage, relish etc.

The aspect was not that “appealing” to me in the beginning and immediately I refused to try it. But after the insistence of some local friends I reluctantly accepted to try “one little bite”. Continue reading

I was so happy and surprised to see him. He had changed so much after all these years. He looks now in a better shape, healthier and much happier.

The truth is that I couldn’t have recognised him, but he recognised me and I was so happy that he did.

Few years ago, in that street, I used to see a homeless man who asked me for some coins “to have breakfast”. He said his name was Johnny and usually I gave him some change I had left, other times I shared some of the food I had with me. Continue reading

Life lessons

Many people refer to their life experiences as “lessons from the University of Life”. Meaning that life itself is an abundant source of knowledge, experiences and very valuable lessons. Probably the best lessons in life are absolutely free. Or maybe not so “free” because the price we have to pay to receive them and learn from them is having to experience them in our life and that sometimes, is a very high price to pay.

Today I am feeling especially grateful for all my life lessons, I am fortunate to say I have experienced some very difficult ones from the best teachers in the universe: my “problems” and “hard times” have been excellent teachers and I am so grateful for them. Besides I have and still am learning from other people who have been kind enough to share their experiences with me and others who I have been able to observe from the distance as well. Your balance

There is nothing more annoying when sitting at a table to eat or drink something than, finding a “dancing table”. When the table is not well balanced and you have to ask the waiter or even yourself to put something under a leg in order to level the table so you don’t have to keep “pulling” your side of the table up to keep your soup from spilling all the time.

Well I don’t know if you have experienced that, but I have lived that many times in all kind of restaurants, expensive and cheap ones. And believe me struggling with chairs and tables is not really a great way to begin a meal.

But everything in this universe needs balance to subsist and prosper. Continue reading

Don’t do this to yourself (reminder to self)

Most of us try to be polite with others, we are careful not to offend and disrespect the integrity of our fellow-men, we even sometimes do extraordinary things to help and protect other people and animals in need.

All that is wonderful and praiseworthy I am all for it! There is nothing better than helping others and do our best for the planet and all her inhabitants. Continue reading

Peel off the skin

Sometimes when you want to eat a fruit or vegetable, before you can enjoy it you need to peel off the skin (although in many cases the main vitamins are contained in the skin), you have never tried to eat an orange without peeling off the skin right?

Once you peel the skin off you throw it into the rubbish bin and forget about it since your mind is focused on enjoying the delicious fruit. Continue reading
