Contrasting

I was not aware of the root of his anger.  He had always been a very nice person, always smiling and joking with everyone around him.

They had been friends since their early childhood. They had been together in many battles and in many celebrations as well.

But then one day his friend left the country to begin his quest to find his “real self”. Many new paths and experiences awaited him ahead.

They lost contact for many years until, one day, he returned home. Continue reading

Get rid of it

When planning a spring cleaning or when moving to a new home, a very difficult thing to do is, deciding what to keep and what to get rid of.

Same happens when you want to clean your life or your contacts in your agenda.

Sometimes changing your social environment is the hardest of all.  Leaving a friendship behind is so difficult for some people, they feel bad for the other person and most times we haven’t seen that person in months or even years.

If that person has no interest to contact us, we can remove the “friend” tag from them without remorse. Continue reading

Follow your heart

I was surprised to see her once more. Years had passed and it was evident to the eyes, we were not the same.

I guess she thought the same about me, but besides the natural changes time inflict upon us, there was something else I couldn´t define in her.

“What is wrong?” I asked her.

“I guess everything is wrong. No, actually I am wrong” She said after a long pause.

I waited patiently until she was able to talk again. Continue reading

Solitude

“So you are marrying that guy?” I asked her.

“Yes I am.” She answered with a vague look in her eyes.

“But you said you met him just two months ago” I asked her with surprise.

After a few seconds of consideration she swiftly said: “Yes, but please understand that I don´t want to be alone anymore.” Her voice was firm and I understood she didn´t want to continue this conversation Continue reading

Your team

I have been reading everywhere about the importance to choose the people you surround yourself with. And I am not talking only about your work team, but the people you spend more time with in your everyday life.

They say we become what we eat, but we become too a little like those who surround us, human beings are imitation creatures, so we end up implementing customs, habits, ideas, concepts, movements, and many other things almost without noticing it.

Have you noticed when friends of yours share expressions, taste, manners, slang and some other characteristics that they didn’t showed before, and after sometime of “hanging out” with mutual friends or acquaintances, they begin to behave in similar ways. Continue reading

Cleansing

One of the best things of making up your mind to clean that spot in your home you have been neglecting for a long time is, that you might find many things that were lost and you never imagined you would find again and specially, in that place!

Once you decide to start taking things out that abandoned box, closet, cupboard, etc. You are surprised by all the things that were hidden there, the more you “explore” inside the more you will find and then, you begin to wish you had done this cleaning before.

After all the “useful” things you found, you cannot understand how you could procrastinate this cleansing for such a long time! Continue reading

Make them smile

I knew she had gone through a real hell, to say the least. She had to suffer big losses and in some way anything I could say wouldn’t help her to get over all that.

When a person is really suffering there is no much you can say to them.  They need to go through their mourn cycle and then time will help them heal some wounds. Not completely but they will smile again.  And most times that is something you can try. Continue reading

Our tribe

They say our friends are the family we choose. Sometimes they are the ones that support us and help us through hard times. They are the only people by our side when we need them and are the ones who can talk with us for hours.

We choose who will enter our tribe and that is our own right and privilege.

But how strict are you for admitting new people in your “chosen clan”? Continue reading
