Sometimes the only way to break free from a bad cycle, is allowing yourself to be completely exposed so the bad leaves your system and the new and good can come in once more.
Sometimes you need to allow yourself to be shattered in a thousand pieces, so you can gather your good pieces and leave the bad behind. Like a caterpillar that needs to renounce to be a worm in order to become a butterfly.
Sometimes you need to allow yourself to be emotionally gutted in order to clean yourself from all those years of negative energy, wrong programming and bad habits, in order to be re-created into your original state.

I grew up in a time when self-love was something bad, a sin.
It was wrongly labelled as egoism and many people tried to avoid it like the plague.
That avoidance had been the cause of many common problems we have to deal with nowadays.

For some strange reason I always thought we all shared the same concepts on many subjects, like the notion of “good” for instance. It was years later when having to interact with people from different countries as a visitor and observer, that I had my first “cultural shock”.
So maybe the ideas are not that different, but our interpretations are. What my community considers a crime, a different culture considers it as something normal, even logical. Continue reading →
