When I was a child, I was always questioning why “bad” things existed.

Why God had invented “pain”, “fear”, “sadness” and so on?

We would be much happier if there was no such thing as fear, right? But then, I was explained that without fear I would not be alive today.  If fear would not let me know my life is in danger when I approach a precipice, I would continue walking and probably fall to my death. But fear was there to stop me in time and keep me from jumping and getting killed or badly injured.

If that fear were not there to activate my instinct of conservation, then I would easily lose my hand when I cook or work with my electric saw. Or I could get easily killed by walking at night through dangerous places, etc.

So, that little voice is not that bad after all. Continue reading

Just here

I must admit that being focused on this present moment is not as easy as I thought.

My mind is wandering more than ever and trying to keep it in this local reality is costing me an extra effort today.

Too many things are trying to keep me from “being here” and that is so interesting to observe, because I am trying to ask myself why, something apparently so simple, is so complicated today.

Do it for you

The more you advance in life, the more you realise that your reality has more to do with yourself than with external elements.

We are taught to avoid selfish attitudes and to pay attention on the opinion of the rest of the world, before considering our own.

You try sometimes to be good to other people, specially your loved ones, but time teaches you that you cannot make them love you, as you love them, you cannot expect them to be as good and loyal to you, as you are to them. You cannot force them to see life as you do, because they have their own view of the world, they have their own needs and they experience a different life with different perspectives and ideas, even if they spend all the time near you. Embrace it

I have heard so many times that you have to embrace change and difficulties when they come, that I thought I had totally understood the idea. And probably I had, but as usual when it comes to apply our knowledge in real life, things become difficult.

We are all excellent for theory but when practice time arrives, the story is quite different, same thing when giving advice to others, we already know what to say to them in any situation THEY have to face, but when we are in the same predicament, all those answers and solutions vanish from our head. I won’t fail this time either.

“Yes, I have made a lot of mistakes, I have taken very bad decisions and I am still trying to figure out how to set things right in many aspects of my life, but I don’t think I have failed. I did everything I could in the way I thought it was right, I tried my best to do the things in the only way I knew and yes, I know, I have harmed people I love at times, I have even harmed people I don’t know directly but all I can say is that I didn’t do anything on purpose. I never meant to do anything wrong to anyone in anyway.” I told my friend while we walked in the park. Continue reading
