Do not wait anymore…

The night was cold and waiting for a bus to arrive was getting on my nerves.  Sometimes waiting for public transport is a real challenge in certain countries where there are no fixed timetables or, they have them but do not respect them.

The weather was getting colder and my patience was vanishing so, despite the time (1:30 A.M.) and being not that far from my destiny I decided I would walk a few minutes and see if the bus would catch up with me a little later.

After all, walking would help me to get warm and keep my mind from complaining about the public transport in this city.

As I began walking I could hear the sound of my footsteps on the pavement. It was the only sound I could hear, so it was nice to listen to the rhythm of my saunter!

I walk a lot, that is one of my favourite pleasures in life, but last night it was cold and I felt a little tired so that is why I had decided to wait for the bus.  But probably the bus driver was cold as well and decided to take a cup of hot tea instead of driving for a change. So I decided to take a walk for a while and enjoy it!

Every now and then I stopped and looked back to see if the bus was finally coming but to no avail. So I kept walking and walking until I reached my destination and the bus never arrived. But I was so happy it didn´t because I really enjoyed the walk.

I was wondering how many times I would have achieved more in my life if instead of waiting for my good to come, I had taken the initiative to go and find it first?  How many blessings did I miss for waiting for them statically? How many opportunities were waiting for me at my destiny, but never discovered them for waiting for them to come and pick me up?

This is certainly no time to stop

I was showing some students some moves with an old Japanese weapon, when one of them asked me to teach him how to make a movement called “finger roll” where the weapon “rolls” over your index finger to reach the opposite position.

When I showed him that move again, he asked me to do it “slowly”.

I just stood there staring at my hand and suddenly realised that it was not possible to do that movement slowly since it was thanks to the force of inertia that that movement was possible. And it needed a certain speed and strength that were not possible to achieve with a slow speed. Continue reading

Concepts

It is amazing when you compare the differences between several concepts that I thought were a little more “standardise” like “success”, “beauty”, “good”, “evil” and so on.

For some strange reason I always thought we all shared the same concepts on many subjects, like the notion of “good” for instance. It was years later when having to interact with people from different countries as a visitor and observer, that I had my first “cultural shock”.

So maybe the ideas are not that different, but our interpretations are. What my community considers a crime, a different culture considers it as something normal, even logical. Continue reading

 Answers

They say “Everything has a solution but death” and often they reply: “And many times death is the solution”.

I know there are extreme cases like certain illnesses when much suffering is involved, and we cannot see other way out but death itself, when medicine in general cannot offer help any more. Continue reading

Move!

I was listening to the conversation of two boys who walked right in front of me. They were talking about how horrible getting up early is and how they hated having to walk to school every morning.

They were complaining how hard to leave their bed was and then walk for a long while in a cold morning. Continue reading

The difference

The little child walked every day the muddy road to go to school and back home.  The people of his village, have been complaining about the mud for a long time since it was very slippery and dangerous to walk, especially for elderly people.

The little boy liked to walk on the mud and feel its cold texture refreshing his feet.  He took his shoes off and walked all that road in bare feet so he could experience the cold mud filling his whole body with a special energy only he could feel. Continue reading
