I constantly read ideas for writers on how to create the characters for their novels. The truth is that only after you have tried to write a novel, a short story, a fable, a poem, etc., you cannot imagine how difficult it really is.
For a writer to be in front of a blank page waiting to be filled with inspiration is a very frightening experience. And believe me, things get worse after the first successful novel. You are required to keep the quality of your stories or actually you are expected to write better with every new book.
So the best thing you can do if you are thinking about writing your first, second, third or 100th novel is to listen to more experienced writers so you can learn from their experiences. Continue reading →
Lately while I am walking on the street I like listening to a couple of sentences from other people’s conversations, not for gossiping reasons, but because if you put together every sentence| you catch “by passing” you create very funny “dialogues”, I guess I could write a novel with all the sentences I have gathered lately!
But once the fun was over and I began to remember a little more of the conversations I overheard on my commuting, I was shocked to discover that most of the conversations refer to those things that people kept focusing on, and these were mostly things that make them unhappy. Continue reading →
