At your own pace

Have you ever fell down or felt sad or depressed after a difficult event and a close friend or family member slaps your back and asked to cheer up or just said: “Come on, get over it, just be happy”?

Then they recommended you a good book or a “guided meditation” so you could “get out of the hole” faster?

Of course you are trying to understand what happened, you are trying to heal your wounds and of course you wish you could go above to situation and feel good once more, but you have your own rhythm to do it, right?

I am not saying they are bad, insensitive, cold people, they surely love you and want you to be al right and on your feet once more very soon.  They do not understand your inner needs and situation, so it is important for you to learn and defend your right to heal at your own speed. Do it for you

The more you advance in life, the more you realise that your reality has more to do with yourself than with external elements.

We are taught to avoid selfish attitudes and to pay attention on the opinion of the rest of the world, before considering our own.

You try sometimes to be good to other people, specially your loved ones, but time teaches you that you cannot make them love you, as you love them, you cannot expect them to be as good and loyal to you, as you are to them. You cannot force them to see life as you do, because they have their own view of the world, they have their own needs and they experience a different life with different perspectives and ideas, even if they spend all the time near you. “Fast method”

We have talked many times about the importance of cycles in life. We are now used to do the things in faster ways than before. In the old times making a cake could take hours, then the instant cakes boxes arrived and it would take us almost an hour to have it on the table, nowadays  we rather go and buy one at the bakery so we don´t have to waste time making it.

This doesn’t apply only to fast-food, we are in the search for “fast-anything”, we seem to be too busy trying to accomplish a hundred thing in our agenda every day and we end up doing two or three things actually.

We are even trying to find faster things methods to reach Nirvana. Now we don’t want to go through the whole process of reaching enlightenment, we want to be a Buddha, and we want it NOW. Continue reading

Distance

One of my friends is very small, or like she likes to say. “petite”. Her legs are short and she doesn’t walk very fast. So she was not used to walk long distances.

I am just the opposite, I have got long legs and walk extremely fast.

She looks everything from her perspective, obviously, so when I told her about my long walks, she couldn’t believe me, to her those distances are extreme. To me are normal. Continue reading

Envy

He showed me his brand new mobile phone, it was nice, more RAM memory (working memory), faster processor, and the battery seems to last longer, so less time to keep worrying about finding a place to charge his phone during the day.

I loved the colour and the screen looked much brighter and with a better definition.

I handed back the mobile to him with a smile and he just looked at me for a while in silence.  Then he asked me if I was not going to say anything about it.

So I told him once more that I liked the mobile very much and that I was happy for him and to enjoy his new acquisition.  And really I felt very happy for him, he was pleased and you can easily tell it. His eyes had that excited sparkle inside. Continue reading
