Before…

I have got a friend who is very impatient and every time you talk to him and you are trying to finish a sentence he keeps saying the first word that comes to his mind, maybe to help you to finish it faster. Sometimes is the word you were about to say but most times is the wrong word.

People usually look at him with anger and probably they think something like: “Thank you, but I do not need you to help me talk, now if you let me continue…” He realises you are not very happy with his interrupting and keeps silent for a few seconds and two or three sentences later he begins to interrupt again.

Needless to say, if you are not perfectly focused on what you are saying, all his interruptions make your mind drift away from the main subject and you end up talking about a totally different thing. Continue reading

Just a second

It does not matter if your life has been the same for years and years.

It does not matter if they tell you that your life is secured.  There is no such thing. Nothing in this universe is static, secured or fixed.  Even rocks have millions of atoms inside them moving all the time.

You could be worried right now about a problem that seems unsurmountable, no open doors on sight and no plausible solutions at hand.

And nevertheless your life could completely change in the next second. Continue reading

The thin line (Rambling)

One of the hardest things for me is trying to identify the difference between a “forced” situation and a “natural” one.

And now I know I am not alone there, because that is one of the most frequent questions I get asked all the time.

When I am trying to “force” an event, an action, a response to something that suddenly appears in my path.  I have learnt to “measure” my direction depending on the “roughness” of the road.  That is, when you are finding too many “rocks” on your path, that could be a signal that you are transiting the wrong road. Do not wait anymore…

The night was cold and waiting for a bus to arrive was getting on my nerves.  Sometimes waiting for public transport is a real challenge in certain countries where there are no fixed timetables or, they have them but do not respect them.

The weather was getting colder and my patience was vanishing so, despite the time (1:30 A.M.) and being not that far from my destiny I decided I would walk a few minutes and see if the bus would catch up with me a little later.

After all, walking would help me to get warm and keep my mind from complaining about the public transport in this city.

As I began walking I could hear the sound of my footsteps on the pavement. It was the only sound I could hear, so it was nice to listen to the rhythm of my saunter!

I walk a lot, that is one of my favourite pleasures in life, but last night it was cold and I felt a little tired so that is why I had decided to wait for the bus.  But probably the bus driver was cold as well and decided to take a cup of hot tea instead of driving for a change. So I decided to take a walk for a while and enjoy it!

Every now and then I stopped and looked back to see if the bus was finally coming but to no avail. So I kept walking and walking until I reached my destination and the bus never arrived. But I was so happy it didn´t because I really enjoyed the walk.

I was wondering how many times I would have achieved more in my life if instead of waiting for my good to come, I had taken the initiative to go and find it first?  How many blessings did I miss for waiting for them statically? How many opportunities were waiting for me at my destiny, but never discovered them for waiting for them to come and pick me up?

There is still time

I am impressed of the way young people are limiting themselves nowadays.  Yes, I know I sound like a bitter old man now, but I cannot understand why people are allowing others to control their minds and destinies.

I have been working with young people who have just finished their careers and most of them, are finding out that having a degree in your hands do not automatically make you capable to handle all things before you.

Finishing a career really means that you are ready to begin your journey in that subject but you are really beginning to learn what you will need ahead in your path.  Having a degree means you have learnt the basics but what really matters and is really important for your progress, life will teach you later on the way. Disappointed

I grew up hearing “if you want things well done, do them yourself”.  Usually when you do team work it is very difficult to get the results you would have expected, if you had done the whole work alone.

We all have different gifts, abilities, knowledge, experiences, enthusiasm and interests, so to gather a team where every person will deliver their best to achieve certain result is a very difficult task. Continue reading

Patience

One thing I found difficult to find nowadays is a person who keeps his or her patience intact.

This modernity is accelerating our inner rhythm in an unnatural way.

Technology is shortening distances and time and now the excess of information is creating new problems.

But the main issue here is that we are allowing other people to alter our inner peace instead of respecting ourselves so the others respect us as well, we tend to “follow the leader” and imitate and accept the pace others tell us to take. Continue reading
