I must admit that being focused on this present moment is not as easy as I thought.
My mind is wandering more than ever and trying to keep it in this local reality is costing me an extra effort today.
Too many things are trying to keep me from “being here” and that is so interesting to observe, because I am trying to ask myself why, something apparently so simple, is so complicated today.
Probably paying so much attention to my thoughts today is making the task more difficult or, struggling to keep my mind relaxed is what is causing the opposite effect. But nevertheless it is so fascinating to observe this process from the inside. Continue reading →
I was feeling happy that morning. I was actually enjoying that feeling of “Nothing is wrong in the world” when suddenly the left hemisphere of my brain began asking the right hemisphere what was he so happy about?
Maybe this unusual state of happiness was too suspicious for that side of the brain that is always analysing and questioning everything all the time.
So, of course he managed to find more than one “reason” to stop that “excess of happiness” and dedicate time to processing more “useful” and worrisome information.
So my mind began making a list of all those things in my past that were unfinished, unclear and unfair to my eyes so I could go back to the regular uneasiness pattern, more natural and popular these days in this world. Continue reading →
When I have these dialogues with my inner self, I tend to “justify” many of the mistakes my subconscious mind points out to me. But as I cannot fool myself so easily, very often I end up “burnt and crashed” but a little bit wiser and stronger.
Sometimes I kept dreaming on things that seemed so “impossible” or too “far away” from me to reach them but that “impossibility” or “distance” made my mind doubt I could ever reach them. I am sure you have been there as well. We all have.
So when I begin to feel that way now what I usually do is rewind my memory tape and push play again so I can see how things “seemed” in the past and how now I am enjoying what in those times looked so far away from my reach and/or impossible to obtain at that time.
There is nothing more frustrating than entertaining the feeling of impossibility to reach a dream. Continue reading →
We always talk about being present, we are constantly remembered that we need to focus our attention on the “here and now” if we want to lead a happy life.
But have you noticed how difficult “being here” really is?
This modern life has too many distractors around us and our mind is getting used to pretend it can “multitask”, that means doing multiple task at one time. But that is not possible for humans. Yes, I know most women think they can do it because they usually have to keep their mind on different things at the same time, but human multitasking is very different to computer multitasking. With Quantum mechanics our common logic does not work, it doesn’t matter how much we try to make sense of it, it is amazing but it´s real.
More and more universities around the world are working on different theories and experiments to try to understand the bases of quantum world. And the conclusions, or at least the results of those experiments are totally mind blowing. That is why Niels Bohr said that if you read an hour about Quantum Physics and your head doesn’t hurt, you didn’t understand anything. Continue reading →
I thought that living in this “reality” was simple and easy to do, but the more I talk to other people the more I realise that it is one of the most difficult things to do nowadays.
When I was a child and I was able to play without the help of any electronic device, I was more in “touch” with my reality since I used what I had in hand to build my toys. A piece of wood could be a ship, a bus, a bed, a seat or anything my mind could imagine. Same for an old box, a blanket, etc.
I used any object in my physical world to “create” a wonderful world in my mind. My mind was creating a world of fantasy for me to live in, but at the same time I was more in “touch” with the reality around me. The moment my mother called me to dinner, I was immediately “present” in my local reality. Continue reading →
Our best gift? Being able to give. When we receive something, a present, a surprise, a donation, etc., the feeling is unbelievable, especially if we didn’t expect to receive it and/or is a solution to a problem we are facing. But do you remember the feeling or should I say the cascade of wonderful feelings that invade your heart the last time you gave something to someone who needed it?
Just to look into their eyes, to see their faces and how joy is exuded from their whole being is a wonderful experience. Continue reading →
When we look at the night sky we are actually seeing the past, not the actual present. All those starts and planets are very far away and even light has to travel through the space to reach us. So the lights we observe at night are just old messengers that left their destiny a long time ago and now all we are watching is the arrival of that “message” to our home planet.
So maybe some of those stars no longer exist, and what we see is a ghost light letting us know that once upon a time, a sun like ours was positioned in the direction we are looking at right now. Continue reading →
