The pain in change

Have you noticed that when facing new circumstances, new situations like a new job, moving to a new house, a new relationship, etc. We react in many different ways?

Fear is the first feeling to jump into our heart. And sometimes that fear is the main reason because we reject change so much.

And it is understandable since change could be a very traumatic experience at first.

I remember when I was a child to be afraid of jumping into a swimming pool because my memory of the first contact with water at a different temperature was not very enjoyable.  It took me a long time to slowly crawl into the pool and it was not a very pleasant event.

Of course once this “traumatic” experience was passed it was almost impossible to take me out of the pool, but to “convince” me to dive into it first thing in the morning was a very difficult task. Continue reading

At your own pace

Have you ever fell down or felt sad or depressed after a difficult event and a close friend or family member slaps your back and asked to cheer up or just said: “Come on, get over it, just be happy”?

Then they recommended you a good book or a “guided meditation” so you could “get out of the hole” faster?

Of course you are trying to understand what happened, you are trying to heal your wounds and of course you wish you could go above to situation and feel good once more, but you have your own rhythm to do it, right?

I am not saying they are bad, insensitive, cold people, they surely love you and want you to be al right and on your feet once more very soon.  They do not understand your inner needs and situation, so it is important for you to learn and defend your right to heal at your own speed. Tired

I have tried to sleep more hours to see if my weariness would fade away. But I kept feeling tired, with no energy whatsoever.  When your inner self is tired, all the physical rest and sleeping will not make a difference.

There are days when you wake up and life hurts, therefore you resent it and will reflect it in your physical body.  And of course it will take you longer to stand on your feet, but any way you have to do it.

You see, it is easier for our brain to recall bad memories.  We usually remember more the bad events than the good ones, so we keep them in the first row of our conscious mind and that could be one of the main reasons why we keep repeating our mistakes and manifesting our worst fears faster. You have survived

When I was a child I found happy faces everywhere I looked.  Now it is getting more difficult to find them around.  Probably as a child I did not put much attention to other people’s mood, the people I looked at was happier or I was not trained to see a sad or depressed face yet.

“Those were other times” some would answer, “People then had fewer worries, these times are more difficult” is a common response nowadays.

I am not sure how to classify it, but yes, finding happy faces is not as easy for me lately.  Should I move to a different country? Well, not exactly, after travelling a lot I have found all kind of people everywhere, but thanks to the internet now you can talk to people on the other side of the planet in real time and realise that they are not having it easier there either. Jumping back

I felt like I had been sleeping for a hundred years, my body was still tired and my mind still in the clouds, after three days in bed with a bad cold the world seemed to run in slow motion in front of my eyes.

I was glad for having been “forced” to slow down and take an involuntary rest, because sometimes life accelerates and I keep procrastinating my procrastination and I want to do everything at the same time, nevertheless Mother Nature is very wise and in her own way she reminds me I need to stop from time to time, and she knows this is the only way I listen to her wisdom sometimes. Extreme

I was talking to a friend who works in the army. He was saying that in some special trainings they are taken to the extremes, they are tested so they can learn how far their bodies and minds can go.

He said that civilians are unaware of what we can do because we are never tested that way that we never know what we can endure because we are not taken to those levels of resistance.

I believe he is right, but on the other hand I think we are tested too by the problems and situations we have to face during our life.  Not all of us need to be left in the jungle for some weeks to try to survive eating snakes and roots, but some people have to survive in many other ways and I have met people who have been able to master their bodies and minds to a point I would call them Spiritual Rambos.
