After many years of absence, I was finally able to return to the capital of the USA. A very dear place to me since I lived and studied there for some years.
A very impressive place with its white buildings and monuments, I was so excited to go and see how things were there now. And yes, that was a big thing in my mind because, how would that place look to my eyes now?
Would the same people be still around? Would I find my friends and classmates living their lives as usual? What would be different nowadays? Would I like the changes? Continue reading →
I was visiting Rick and he was very concerned about his future.
His grandfather was a doctor, his father was a doctor and, yes you guessed it, he became a doctor as well.
He had been surrounded by doctors of all kinds all his life. He attended reunions and parties where most people were doctors, his whole world was full of doctors here and doctors there.
That was on one side very good, because that influence had made him a very good doctor, very open to all kind of medicines, not only allopathy. But on the other side it was a terrible thing as well, because he had assumed all his life his role as a doctor. He could not conceive the idea of doing anything else. Continue reading →
She was a sweet and lovely girl. She grew up in a traditional family and her childhood was a happy one.
As she grew up people and events turn her down and she became resentful and “tougher”. She began talking like her male friends and changed her stylish wardrobe for a more masculine looking. Even her movements and vocabulary became more aggressive and rough.
Finally one day I dared to ask her why she decided to make those changes in her personality, since she was such a nice young lady and now she was rougher than some gang members I know.
She told me she had to play a different role. She was alone with her two children in a world made for men by men and where women had no safe place to be. So she decided she wouldn´t let anybody walk upon her, she would be the one stepping on other people´s heads. Continue reading →
I just found the skin of a snake, well what was left of it. It was like a transparent hose still showing the patterns of its scales. It was difficult to believe it was once the actual skin of one of those brown snakes. When you look at them, their skins look so shiny and firm. This skin look so fragile and dry now. It was death skin.
I guess the snake didn’t make a big fuss and drama for leaving that skin behind. She just got rid of that death cover and let it go without looking back to see if it there is still some part of it that could be reused.
I observed the same with most trees in autumn. They begin to show beautiful green leaves in spring and as soon as the summer is over they begin to drop the brown, yellow and red leaves, (also beautiful, but dead). Continue reading →
One of the best things of making up your mind to clean that spot in your home you have been neglecting for a long time is, that you might find many things that were lost and you never imagined you would find again and specially, in that place!
Once you decide to start taking things out that abandoned box, closet, cupboard, etc. You are surprised by all the things that were hidden there, the more you “explore” inside the more you will find and then, you begin to wish you had done this cleaning before.
After all the “useful” things you found, you cannot understand how you could procrastinate this cleansing for such a long time! Continue reading →
