Move it!

Every feeling, every sensation, every emotion has a reason to exist. They are not just a caprice of nature.  They have a function as well.

One of them, I have observed very carefully, is fear and it has surprised me how important it is. This natural mechanism has been implanted in us to “force us to move ahead” nevertheless many times it block us and paralyse us, causing us double damage.

Some species of animals are paralysed by fear and are easily trapped by their predators. But the species which react to danger by moving faster are the ones that are more capable of surviving. Continue reading

Cul-de-sac

I was in a hurry walking as fast as I could, almost running and overtaking every pedestrian walking in front of me on the street.  I usually walk very fast, but this time I was in a hurry and needed to get to an appointment on time, I hate being late, I consider that a lack of respect for other people´s time.

It was the first time I was in that area of that city, so every street was completely new to me.

Suddenly I saw a street in front of me that looked like a good short-cut to take and save sometime. Immediately I felt relieved and saw it as my salvation! But on the other side, something inside my head told me not to take that route. Continue reading

That little voice?

I was watching the traffic light, waiting for it to let me know I could safely cross the avenue.  A group of 8 people gathered around me waiting for the green sign to light up so we could continue our journey.

Most people were consulting their mobile phones and some looked inpatient since they would be late for work, since most people started their work day in around 10 minutes. Continue reading
