Being you

 

We are living very interesting times.

It seems evident that the easiest thing in this life should be, being ourselves.

If you have born with a particular set of characteristics, gifts, things to learnt and to share with others. Being yourself should come easy and without any effort whatsoever.

But as amazing as it sounds, nowadays it has become one of the hardest things to achieve.

This society is teaching us that being who we are is not enough. We need to have certain requirements in order to fit into today’s perfect model.

Of course, nobody can accomplish such a task, but everybody is doing their best to show others that they can. Continue reading

Just hide!

Lately I have been finding different cases of people who are scared of being with themselves because their families think they are getting paranoiac or anti-social.

The excess of use of technology is causing many people to believe that having a quiet and reserved behaviour far from the crowds and/or common social practices is a dangerous symptom.  If you do not get involved in the stereotypical activities every other “normal” human being follow every day, you are tagged as “anti-social”.

I know that the alienation most of us are suffering due to new technologies is affecting our society and the way we communicate with each other and in the long run this will bring problems we cannot even foresee right now. The fear for this lack of attention from those we love is affecting our coexistence and is disturbing us now in many other ways. Continue reading
