You define yourself

I remember one day when my daughter told me she was stupid.

I was very impressed by the way she said that. She was around 5 years old and after school she told me she was stupid in a very confident and serene voice. She was totally convinced that was a fact.

I asked her why she said that and, in the same tone, she answered: “My teacher told me I am stupid, my friends told me I am stupid, my cousins told me I am stupid therefore, I must be stupid”

“Did they tell you that today?” I asked.

“Yes, but they have told me that before, so I think they must be right” She answered with sadness. Continue reading

You´ll be happier now

When I received my first tricycle when I was around 3 or 4 years old, I thought that was the happiest day of my life. It was green with a white handle. I was the happiest boy on planet Earth.

Then the years passed and when I received my first video game console, I was so happy I couldn’t believe it was really happening, it was amazing and you could actually plug in a keyboard and write basic programs in it. I was the happiest teenager on planet Earth.

Then more years passed loaded with different happy moments when I considered myself the happiest person on planet Earth. And the truth is, right now I am finding even more moments when I am so happy and grateful every day, that I think I am the happiest person on planet Earth. Continue reading

I respect your ways

I know you have heard many times that we are all different. No matter how long we have lived in the same community, in the same house and even in the same family. We have a lot in common and yet, we are still different.

You might like to add sugar in your tea, I prefer a little more cream in it instead. You might prefer a bagel with it, I prefer a ring doughnut. You might like to talk about politics, I rather skip that subject.

We can be so different in so many aspects and yet, we can share a nice tea moment, each enjoying, at the same time, our own personal pleasures. Continue reading

You are such a fool!

I know you are not a fool, but do you?

If suddenly you drop something by accident and I tell you: Gosh, you are such a fool! The logical reaction is you get mad at me and answer something like: – You are the fool! Or something like that.

Ok I understand that, nobody has the right to call anybody else such names, those are negative “tags”. I would understand you getting mad at me for calling you that.

But after sometime you might even forget I called you like that, because you know you are not a fool, right? Continue reading
