You can admire an athlete who has accomplished an important mark in their speciality, you love to read about those people who have survived tough situations and after a terrible struggle they came out victorious.
You can feel respect for those people who have gone through humiliation, torture and all kinds of abuse, in order to be true to their convictions and ideas in addition to sacrificing all in their lives so they could reach their final destination covered in glory.
We all have stories among our family and friends of people who have gone through a real hell on Earth just to accomplish their deepest dreams.
There are now, plenty of reality shows and other programs about those people who have made it in extreme circumstances. And we love to watch them and feel admiration and respect for those brave people who, despite all odds, have been true to themselves, have lost everything for the good of others and are now seen as heroes. We all have gone through difficult experiences, some more than others, but we all have survived the hard times.
I met once a survivor of the Hiroshima bomb, she was a very kind and sweet old woman.
When I was told she was a survivor of that terrible event, I just couldn´t believe it. She looked so peaceful, so sweet and so happy with life I just couldn´t believe she had gone through such an awful life experience!
Of course, you say, too many years have passed after that horrible incident, but let me tell you that I have met people who had far less awful experiences that had marked their character and personality. Continue reading →
Escaping is considered a part of our self-defence natural system. It is usually called the fight-or-flight response.
According to this theory the sympathetic nervous system reacts to danger with a hormonal secretion of different hormones, amines and neurotransmitters (Norepinephrine, epinephrine, estrogen, testosterone, cortisol and others). Thus priming the subject for fighting or fleeing.
In these modern times, usually we don´t need the fighting part of the equation, (with the exception of big cities and problematic zones of course). So the fleeing part is much more active in some people. Continue reading →
We always complain about the bad things that happen to us in our everyday life.
Sometimes we feel the worst things take place at the worst moment so our mind begins to orbit around our problems, leaving the rest of our life out of perspective. Then the rest of the world disappears and our attention is focused on those “terrible situations”.
We all have been there and when we finally take a look around us, we finally see there are much bigger problems in the life of others that the ones we are considering as our doom. Continue reading →
