Your journey

I was exhausted, the four hours walk to the pond in the middle of an uninhabited jungle had been difficult, but nothing compared to the way back.

Climbing back to the top of that valley was a daunting task for me, I was not very used to walk for so many hours in the outdoors, and the Sun was really at its peak hour, so I was really wishing to get back to the car and drive back home.

I had to take little rests from time to time and the closer to the top I got, the more frequent stops I made.

When I was about to reach the last tract, I was making my best effort to pull my body up when all I could see were a pair of perfectly polished shoes in front of my eyes.  My stunned eyes kept going upwards just to observe very well ironed beige trousers, a white shirt and a smiling face who greeted me with a cheerful voice: “Did you enjoy the trip?”, he said. And it was never the same…

After many years of absence, I was finally able to return to the capital of the USA.  A very dear place to me since I lived and studied there for some years.

A very impressive place with its white buildings and monuments, I was so excited to go and see how things were there now.  And yes, that was a big thing in my mind because, how would that place look to my eyes now?

Would the same people be still around? Would I find my friends and classmates living their lives as usual? What would be different nowadays? Would I like the changes? Continue reading

The puddle

After an amazing storm I was on my way to see a client trying to find shortcuts along the way to arrive on time.

I decided to go through a park I have never visited before but, it was on the way to my client’s office.  I was walking very fast and suddenly, after a curve, I found myself in front of a huge puddle.

At first I thought trying to jump over it or, slowly walk through it, but the image of a video of a car sinking in an apparently innocent puddle came to my mind.   This video showed a car crossing a seemingly inoffensive puddle in a street of a big city, but it seems it was covering a huge “gap”, the car unknowingly kept advancing and suddenly disappeared into the “puddle”.

The video did not show whether the driver was able to come out alive from there, but the image remained very clear in my mind.  Continue reading

Unanswered petitions

Many times I have question myself, the Universe, God, etc., why some of my petitions, prayers, dreams never came true.  I even have felt hurt and ignored because of this.

I know we all have gone through an experience like this but, sometimes we forget it and, despite seeing later that the results we would have received were totally different to what we expected in the first place, we allow that feeling of rejection, frustration, etc., to abide in our hearts once more.

I remember a long time ago, a friend wanted so bad to travel to a big city with his friends. His parents oppose to that trip and he got very frustrated and mad at them.

He had been planning that trip for months but in the end, his grades at school had been much lower than expected and his parents decided he had not “earned” that trip. Continue reading

Open letter

I was going through some old souvenirs of my trip to your country a few years ago.  I found your business card and I remembered how glad I was you gave me a hand that time to contact important people and to get around your city.

Travelling

Travelling means different things for every person. I remember I got very excited when I was a child as holydays approached. I knew we were going to travel somewhere.

Some holidays, we went to visit family and after a while that became a little boring because every occasion we were doing the same things with the same people and going to the same places.  Fortunately my mother decided we needed to see new places and began taking guided tours to different places everywhere.
