Everybody is telling you that you need to control what you think because it is what you attract. That brings upon us a big burden since we stress ourselves by making a big effort to avoid bad thoughts and feelings.
As human beings, we can experience all kinds of feelings, thoughts, and emotions.
We cannot limit our mind and soul to filter all the time our bad thoughts and feelings. That would not be beneficial, and in the end, it would bring us major health problems.
We do not need to completely avoid newspapers, TV news and the general gossiping around us.
The big difference comes when we do not allow those events to change our self-confidence. Continue reading →
Sometime ago, I had the opportunity to meet in person a very well know scientist-writer. He always wrote about very polemic subjects but he was convinced of his concepts and was considered an eminence in his time.
For many years he was able to endure the attacks and criticism of his fellow scientists who were more comfortable with the old theories. He could most times provide good evidence of his own models.
But he started a family and the economic pressures began to emerge. So, he had to start searching for new work opportunities and his life took a 180° turn.
When he was not so “famous” anymore, and he had to abide under the rules of the scientific community (see how I didn´t say under the laws of science) He was politely asked to “rephrase” some of his arguments and personal views in his books, since they “were not in line with the general scientific view”. We are taught to trust our senses to recognise our reality. We believe in what we can “touch”, “Seeing is believing” and so forth.
It is logical to take as “real” those things that our five senses can perceive. Our senses were designed for that purpose, right?
Well as a child I loved to play those games in magazines and books where drawings could hide different shapes and only focusing your mind in certain areas of the illustration you could find more “hidden” shapes. Continue reading →
No, I gave up a long time ago. Those typical “Yeah, right” glances and smirks, those rolling eyes and sudden changes of topic in the conversation were just too much for me.
So yes, I did give up on trying to make the others understand me.
I don´t like to watch sports on TV but if you are a man, have you tried to tell other men you don´t like it and then they look at you as if you just arrived from a distant planet in a new discovered galaxy. Continue reading →
Most people of a certain age I know like to see their life backwards. That is, they like to see all the things they have accomplished during their lives. How things were tough once and they were able to overcome the obstacles and fight to get what they wanted. But 95% of them when I ask them if they would go through all of that from square one, they answer: NO!
So most of them have lived a life full of difficulties and have learnt to overcome them and they are now in a privileged place because they passed their tests. Nevertheless they don’t like the idea of starting all over again.
They feel they have reached the goal and now they can just rest and live looking at the past for the rest of their lives. Continue reading →
“There is no image, I tune channel 3 and still no image!” she replied annoyed.
“Mmmh mum, this new set no longer needs to work on channel 3, now they have a special mode for different inputs”, I said with a calmed voice.
“Why do they have to do everything so complicated? So now what am I supposed to do to watch TV?” Her voice was getting louder…. So I proceeded with caution. This was dangerous territory. Continue reading →
I was feeling calmed and relaxed as usual when suddenly I found a friend whose favourite hobby is watching the news channel. In just five minutes into the conversation he had given me the main headlines of the day and they were all appalling, bad news about tragedies, accidents, frauds, assassinations and so on.
I was amazed of the amount of terrible incidents in just one night, and how my friend was able to update me with the last news in just a few minutes. When he finished his “report” I asked him the practical application of that knowledge. I swear I didn’t ask that in with a bad intention. I was just surprised with his “eagerness” to learn every detail of every note, I haven’t met anyone with a better memory for details than him. Not even in my years into the radio and TV business.
