What you are not

 

I have met many people who are convinced they are what they are not. And when you hold an idea in your mind long enough, it becomes part of your reality.

The problem is, that when you are holding in your mind the wrong concept, then the outside world will cause you more harm than good.

For instance, I know a friend whose parents told him all the time he was not good at math.  They repeated him all the time he was a failure in math and other sciences. Fortunately for him and for many of us, he ended up listening to his inner voice that always told him he really liked math and he ended up being a wonderful math teacher who loves spreading his knowledge to his students and has been teaching several generations the magic of math. Your mental image

 

They say that we should be clear where are we heading to, in order to get to the place, we wish to reach. And that is true.

I am sure, most of the time you leave your home with a destination in your mind. When you take the underground, a cab or get into your car, you have a definite end point in your mind. Otherwise you will make you and other people mad very easily. Especially cab drivers, they like to know where they will take you to, instead of driving around like lost ants.

In life, it is considered a good practice to have goals to accomplish, places to go and people to love. And that is good as well.

Be Resilient

 

While talking to a friend yesterday we were commenting about a friend who used to be a very solid and strong man most of his life, but the day his wife passed away, he began to lose his strength and wish to go on living.

It is always hard to lose a loved one, specially a very close person. And once we fall, getting on our feet once more is a daunting task for most of us.

After a lost, a failure, an accident, etc., things get very difficult and recovering our inner strength and peace seems almost impossible. And although time heals almost all wounds, there is always some things we can do to speed up our recovery. Continue reading

The best I ever had

Why is it that when somebody dies he or she becomes the best person on the planet?

Why after a love is gone, we realise after a while, that he/she was the “love of our life”?

Why do we have to face loss, in order to find the good aspects of people, places and things?

And you can apply that to practically everything with the exception of abusive people and bad situations. But even in those cases I have seen people who, when an abusive person who made their life a real hell, dies. They begin to find the “good” in them.  Sometimes an excess of dependency? An addiction to old beliefs? Whatever…

The problem is that we keep complaining everyday about almost everything in our world but we rarely stop to smell the flowers on the way.  Are you grateful for the roof upon your head right now? Are you happy because you still have people who care about you and who still ask you in a sincere manner how you are when they see you? Continue reading

And now what?

 

“…So I began to visualise the end results I wanted to see in my life and then I stood there staring at the ceiling in silence wondering what to do next.” He said.

“Well after visualising what you want to manifest, what´s next is to follow your heart, you need to take a step towards what you want to get. If you don’t do anything, even taking a little step so your action moves the rest of the Universe, nothing is going to happen.” Was my answer.

“Ok, ok I know all that, I have read it a thousand times, but the thing is that right now, I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO! I have done everything I know I can do, I have NO idea what the next step is and I need YOU to help me to find out what should I do now. There is nothing more enervating than wishing something and having no idea what to do about it, I cannot keep staring at the ceiling my whole life.” He said desperately.

“Ok, I understand, I have been there many times before. After you have done everything you can and/or you know you can do about it, what is next is to use the biggest force that can help you manifest in your life what you need: Gratitude.” Continue reading

Building the new   

In a time of fast changes in technology, politics, society, ideologies and so on and so forth, being static seems to be “out of fashion”.

New discoveries in science appear and our ideas and old prejudices must change as well. Quantum physics is really weird and although it seems it cannot affect your “reality” directly, some of its effects are beginning to be understood nowadays.  We are changing the way we see our universe and there will be radical changes in our mentalities and dogmas in science and religion.  Yes, you have read well, there are dogmas in science too, believe it or not.  But we´ll talk about it some other time. There are many stubborn “scientists” out there who prefer to look to the other side when a new idea appears, since it is much more comfortable to remain believing in the old concepts than work on understanding and testing the new ones. And it was never the same…

After many years of absence, I was finally able to return to the capital of the USA.  A very dear place to me since I lived and studied there for some years.

A very impressive place with its white buildings and monuments, I was so excited to go and see how things were there now.  And yes, that was a big thing in my mind because, how would that place look to my eyes now?

Would the same people be still around? Would I find my friends and classmates living their lives as usual? What would be different nowadays? Would I like the changes? Continue reading

Shattered

Sometimes the only way to break free from a bad cycle, is allowing yourself to be completely exposed so the bad leaves your system and the new and good can come in once more.

Sometimes you need to allow yourself to be shattered in a thousand pieces, so you can gather your good pieces and leave the bad behind. Like a caterpillar that needs to renounce to be a worm in order to become a butterfly.

Sometimes you need to allow yourself to be emotionally gutted in order to clean yourself from all those years of negative energy, wrong programming and bad habits, in order to be re-created into your original state.

This time you can put your inner pieces in a different order and leave no space for those things that held you back for so long. Continue reading

Labels (More notes to self)

Have you ever asked yourself why things are “showing up” in your life the way they are right now?

We are used to “attach labels” to everything around us, people, circumstances and all kind of events.

We like to use “positive” or “negative”, “good” or “bad” and so on and so forth.

But looking backwards, how many times have you see a “bad” event turn out to be wonderful in the end? How many times have you seen apparently “good” events turn your life into a living “hell”?

What about that “decent” and “wonderful” person who caused you more sorrow and pain than those you considered your worst enemies?

You see? Let’s accept once and for all, that we never see the whole scene, and that make us misplace our labels most times.

So, it could be a god option to stop that “labelling business” for a while and begin anticipating more miracles and be ready to be surprised. Continue reading

Why is that happening again?

I thought I had finally left the bad habit of adding salt to my food without tasting it first.  I have slowed down my eating speed quite a lot and keeping my hands away from the salt shaker as much as possible, but I have caught myself adding salt more often, to food that does not really need it.

Yes, for some strange reason (maybe my body needs a little more sodium lately) My mind keeps bringing thoughts of salty food and, that constant desire for salt is pushing my hands to grab the salt shaker more often, maybe this is just a justification, but that is a habit I need to work on immediately before it causes a bigger damage.

Same with other bad habits, and fear as well. Fear is a bad habit when you allow it to be the master of your thoughts too frequently.
