It will not go away, until…

“…But I have done all the visualisations, meditations, affirmations and any spiritual exercise you can imagine, but my situation is still the same” my friend said yesterday with a desperate tone.

“I know the feeling” I answer with first hand experience.

“But I think I have done everything to change my life and circumstances but I just do not see these problems vanishing from my life”. He bitterly complained.

“I know very well what you are going through now” i told him. “It is really frustrating, but it is a natural process.”  I answered as calmed as possible. Continue reading

Knowledge

When I look at the things I have been through so far, I realise that most of my experience, those things I consider as valuable knowledge, are mostly the result of painful events.

I am able to walk now, because many times I fell down as I tried to take my first steps when I was a little child, I got up again and kept trying to imitate those people around me who were able to walk without a problem.

Every fall was painful, but that did not kept me from standing up again and keep trying. And now, thanks to that I can walk for hours and enjoy it. Continue reading

It’s ok (Note to self)

It’s OK to wake up one morning feeling drained, without your usual joy of life on and to decide in that very moment to take the day off. Just to gather enough strength to carry on with your journey.

It is valid to decide today not to feel gratitude for the good things you have got and, to let your heart feel that nostalgia for the days and people who are no longer here with you.

It is acceptable to decide to let anger and sadness to fill your heart and soul for a while because those feelings are a part of your human nature and have a reason to exist in you. Continue reading

Do not wait anymore…

The night was cold and waiting for a bus to arrive was getting on my nerves.  Sometimes waiting for public transport is a real challenge in certain countries where there are no fixed timetables or, they have them but do not respect them.

The weather was getting colder and my patience was vanishing so, despite the time (1:30 A.M.) and being not that far from my destiny I decided I would walk a few minutes and see if the bus would catch up with me a little later.

After all, walking would help me to get warm and keep my mind from complaining about the public transport in this city.

As I began walking I could hear the sound of my footsteps on the pavement. It was the only sound I could hear, so it was nice to listen to the rhythm of my saunter!

I walk a lot, that is one of my favourite pleasures in life, but last night it was cold and I felt a little tired so that is why I had decided to wait for the bus.  But probably the bus driver was cold as well and decided to take a cup of hot tea instead of driving for a change. So I decided to take a walk for a while and enjoy it!

Every now and then I stopped and looked back to see if the bus was finally coming but to no avail. So I kept walking and walking until I reached my destination and the bus never arrived. But I was so happy it didn´t because I really enjoyed the walk.

I was wondering how many times I would have achieved more in my life if instead of waiting for my good to come, I had taken the initiative to go and find it first?  How many blessings did I miss for waiting for them statically? How many opportunities were waiting for me at my destiny, but never discovered them for waiting for them to come and pick me up?

Your journey

No, I gave up a long time ago. Those typical “Yeah, right” glances and smirks, those rolling eyes and sudden changes of topic in the conversation were just too much for me.

So yes, I did give up on trying to make the others understand me.

I don´t like to watch sports on TV but if you are a man, have you tried to tell other men you don´t like it and then they look at you as if you just arrived from a distant planet in a new discovered galaxy. Continue reading

Distance

One of my friends is very small, or like she likes to say. “petite”. Her legs are short and she doesn’t walk very fast. So she was not used to walk long distances.

I am just the opposite, I have got long legs and walk extremely fast.

She looks everything from her perspective, obviously, so when I told her about my long walks, she couldn’t believe me, to her those distances are extreme. To me are normal. Continue reading

Don’t touch it

Being on computers since…. Well, a long time, yes even before Gopher existed (the grandfather of Google, yahoo, etc.) I know, I know I am an ancient soul. Even before the web and, when telnet was the most advanced “communication tool”, I have been observing the same pattern.

One of the first things I do when someone calls me hysterical at 3 am asking for help because their computer is broken is to ask them: What did you installed before that happened?

Usually their answer is “That a friend who know everything about computers, installed a program or modified something in the operating system”. Continue reading

Numbness

As I sat in a bench in the park to rest a little after a long walk. There was a nice gentlemen sitting there already so I said a typical: “good morning” and let my body heavily fall on the bench.

That gentleman cheerfully answered to my good morning and asked me if I had a good walk. Without paying much attention I answered that my walk had been fine but very long, I was exhausted but happy.

He told me that he felt happy that roses were beginning to bloom and that the smell of wet soil and freshly cut grass made his day. Continue reading

Life lessons

Many people refer to their life experiences as “lessons from the University of Life”. Meaning that life itself is an abundant source of knowledge, experiences and very valuable lessons. Probably the best lessons in life are absolutely free. Or maybe not so “free” because the price we have to pay to receive them and learn from them is having to experience them in our life and that sometimes, is a very high price to pay.

Today I am feeling especially grateful for all my life lessons, I am fortunate to say I have experienced some very difficult ones from the best teachers in the universe: my “problems” and “hard times” have been excellent teachers and I am so grateful for them. Besides I have and still am learning from other people who have been kind enough to share their experiences with me and others who I have been able to observe from the distance as well. I respect your ways

I know you have heard many times that we are all different. No matter how long we have lived in the same community, in the same house and even in the same family. We have a lot in common and yet, we are still different.

You might like to add sugar in your tea, I prefer a little more cream in it instead. You might prefer a bagel with it, I prefer a ring doughnut. You might like to talk about politics, I rather skip that subject.

We can be so different in so many aspects and yet, we can share a nice tea moment, each enjoying, at the same time, our own personal pleasures. Continue reading
