You are more than fine

you

Advice on how to be a good business partner, a better spouse, friend, lover, student, boss and so on. Are everywhere.

You can see in most magazines and newspapers, a section dedicated to those subjects. Everybody has something to tell you on how to be a better “version of yourself”.

All this information, as everything else in life, might be very useful and, of course, we can learn a lot when we try to apply it to our daily life but, on the other hand, we need to be extremely vigilant of what we accept and what we take with a pinch of salt.

We are all individuals, we are all different (fortunately). We can try to do things differently in order to learn new ways to do things, even faster and better.

But when it comes to your own nature, your own personality, your own being. Things are very different. Continue reading

The external

There are nowadays an overflow of products and “information” about health and fitness everywhere. Some information is very useful and comes from good sources. But most info, especially on-line literature, is just commercial-media mumbo-jumbo.

Modern medicine has advance in very impressive ways, aided by technology and chemistry, but most times you get more scared of the secondary effects of that medicine that sometimes are even worst that your original ailment.

I have talked here many times about the importance of what you allow into your mind, since that information goes deep into your subconscious mind and affects you deeply at all levels.

But equally important is to be very selective of those things you put into your physical body. Continue reading

Do you really have the real Information?

Yes, we are submerged in information. We are surrounded by it. These are times when all we have to do is to turn on a device to access enormous data bases of endless information and most of our doubts will be clarified.

The real issue here is the source, where people are getting this information from.

Nowadays, when we need to answer some doubt, we enter some keywords into a search engine’s search box.

We receive sometimes thousands or even millions of links to different sites where we can find the keywords we have typed in.  And we usually go to the first page the search engine suggested without verifying anything else. Continue reading

Talk

I wasn’t surprised to read a recent study from the University of Philadelphia and the University of Madison, WI, USA, about the importance of talking to oneself in order to activate and increase your memory.

In a nut shell, the study presents a series of results, taken from several investigations where people from different backgrounds were asked to try and remember where they had placed things, while they said in loud voice the name of the object they were searching for. For instance, a group of people who were trying to find their keys, while looking around their house for them kept repeating: ”keys, the keys” all the time and other group of people were asked not to say or think that word. Relearning

I always thought I had mastered my favourite subject (mathematics) since I had graduated and received a title as an engineer. When I was at school, I always entertained the idea that once you finish your career you know everything you need to work on your profession and then you can proceed to the next step. Whatever a next step is.

I thought I had “made it” and I shouldn’t worry about “looking back” to review what I supposedly knew so well. But I was surprised when I tried to enrol in an advanced quantum mechanics class, they asked me to take an online test to see my “level”, since this class was only for “advanced students”. And they expected us to have a certain level in order to deal with the concepts without having to “explain the basics” to the no initiated.  Continue reading

Inner wisdom II

Inner wisdom comes not only in the form of theory or intellectual knowledge. It is a more profound concept.

We can say it is a part of our inner baggage, a set of tools that travel with us all our life and constantly updates with the help or our experiences and tests in life.

It means to be true to our inner being and apply those tools in our daily life. Continue reading

You are information

One of the most mind blowing theories Quantum physics is juggling right now is the idea that information builds reality.

Of course it is just a theory and it’s just beginning to go through different scientific filters, but the idea is not really new and there are many “big” names in the field behind it, so I am sure we will hear a lot about it in the near future. Continue reading

Solidarity

We can find different opinions about strikes and social movements nowadays.

One day you are driving trying to avoid the usual and terrible transit typical of big cities when suddenly you take a turn and find a street blocked by a group of workers who are demanding a solution to their problems.  Then you are forced to change your route and so is everyone else on the street, therefore the transit issues are immediately amplified altering our activities in more ways than one. You made the damage

He was complaining about the way the river had caused the flood and damaged the harvests, how that “damn river” had made disappear his work of many years and “now with this damn legs I cannot move the way I need to go and buy my groceries”. And he kept cursing about many other things like the government, the global warming among other things.

While I drank my tea, I could listen his companions complaining as well about many different situations and aspects that were affecting them and all of us too. Continue reading

Writing for attacking?

I have been reading a lot lately, all kind of articles, books, magazines and newspapers.  Being in the media have taught me a lot about information.

Most people feel they are left behind or “out of the game” if they don’t read a newspaper every day or watch the news on TV. They say we need to “be informed”. But do they know that they are not being really informed? They are given the perspective, the opinion, the belief or just the information they are allowed to receive.  They are actually receiving the information the Editor or redactor is giving them, and most times is not the whole truth about what is really happening.  We can see many examples lately on the international news.

We are told the news, showing the events depending on the convenience of the one reporting it. Continue reading
